Santa Margarita put on a defensive clinic Friday night, shutting out Norco 34-0 in a statement non-league victory. The Eagles controlled the game from start to finish, with the defense lights out all night, keeping Norco off the scoreboard and making life difficult for the Cougars’ offense. On the other side of the ball, Adrian Petero powered the Santa Margarita offense with 23 carries for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns, helping the Eagles remain unbeaten at 5-0.
With the win, Santa Margarita now turns its attention to a massive Trinity League matchup against Mater Dei (4-1) on Friday, October 2.
The Monarchs are coming off a 25-8 loss to Bishop Gorman. Norco falls to 4-1 and will look to bounce back against Murrieta Mesa on October 2.
