Bishop Gorman finally broke through against Mater Dei, delivering a statement 25-8 victory in a matchup that had long been dominated by the Monarchs. Prior to this meeting, Mater Dei held a perfect 5-0 record against Gorman, making the Gaels’ decisive win an even bigger moment.
Gorman controlled the game with a physical performance on both sides of the ball. Corey Hinton Jr. led the charge offensively with two touchdowns and several explosive runs, while Ace Amina added another touchdown as the Gaels piled up 287 total yards.
The Gaels’ defense was equally impressive, limiting Mater Dei to just 197 total yards. Darian Abella came up with a huge 40-yard interception return, helping Gorman maintain control throughout the night.
Paytyn Guess connected with Asir Nembhard for Mater Dei’s lone touchdown, but the Monarchs struggled to generate consistent offense against a relentless Gorman defense.
After falling short in their first five meetings, Bishop Gorman finally got over the hump, and did it in convincing fashion with a 25-8 win over Mater Dei.
