The Buford Wolves continued their unbeaten start to the season Thursday night, grinding out an 18-7 non-league victory over the Central Rockets. Buford’s defense set the tone from the start, with the defensive line applying constant pressure on Central quarterback James Perrone and making it difficult for the Rockets to find a rhythm offensively. Senior Joshua Echols was especially disruptive up front, consistently finding his way into the backfield and helping keep Central’s offense under pressure throughout the night. On the offensive side, the Wolves leaned on their rushing attack, with running backs Silas Nuckles and Jameer Cantrell leading the way and helping Buford control the game on the ground.
With the win, Buford improves to 3-0 on the season and will travel to face Grayson on Friday, September 18. The Rams enter the matchup at 2-2 following a 44-31 win over Brunswick. Central falls to 2-1 and will return home Saturday, September 19, to take on Jackson of Miami, Florida, in a 3A District 16 matchup.
