There were a number of standout 2029 recruits who shined during Saturday’s action at the Edison Battle at the Beach.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — The Edison Battle at the Beach provides a glimpse into the upcoming season across Southern California. We already previously highlighted the standout performers from the event overall.
When watching St. John Bosco make its way to the championship, we noticed just how many future stars are part of the top teams. The 2029 class in particular has a chance to be special across the board in Southern California.

There are several rising sophomores who figure to be factors for their teams. Saturday’s event featured those players being in position to make an impact. Many of those rising sophomores are already on track to play on Saturdays in college.
We watched many of the top 2029 prospects over the course of Saturday’s action in Huntington Beach. Here is a breakdown of who stood out among that group.
Offensive Standouts At The Edison Battle At The Beach
St. John Bosco is stacked with talent, and many of the contributors who will see the field this fall are underclassmen. When you consider the type of talent at the Bellflower, California school, that says quite a bit. The offense had some ups and downs for the Braves Saturday en route to their title, but the group stepped up when it mattered most.
WR Kuika Moaalii (Bosco)
Big wide receiver Kuika Moaalii has a top target for Bosco QB Koa Malau’ulu on Saturday. Moaalii used his big 6-foot-3 frame to power his way to touchdowns and big plays. He had a crucial touchdown late in the championship game at the goal line when he simply overpowered a defender to make the catch. His ability to utilize his size is impressive already, and he will eventually fill out to be a big-time threat on the outside.
WR David Plunkett III (Bosco)
There are a bevy of weapons on the Bosco offense, but the Braves do a good job of spreading the ball around. DJ Tubbs (2028) was arguably the best player on the field throughout the course of the day Saturday. However, his counterpart on the inside also made plenty of noise. David Plunkett III was Johnnny On The Spot for the Braves during Saturday’s event. He showed up time and time again to make plays all over the field. His burst and speed make him a threat at any time, and he was able to make several difficult catches for Bosco. Like Tubbs, Plunkett is a difference-maker in the open field.
QBs To Know
QB Ezrah Brown (Orange Lutheran)
Orange Lutheran is one of the teams with a new head coach, and Ray Fenton is working through his quarterback situation. The Lancers played both Reagan Toki and rising sophomore Ezrah Brown both had opportunities to see the field last season. They each rotated leading the OLu offense on Saturday during the Edison Battle at the Beach. Both quarterbacks had big moments. Brown looks like he will be ready when his time comes.
QB Trevor Scott (Long Beach Poly)
Trevor Scott transferred to Long Beach Poly from Mater Dei earlier in the year, and he will be a top recruit for programs over the coming years. The big lefty is an imposing figure who towers among his peers. Scott is already beginning to stack offers from Power Four programs including UCLA, Utah and SMU. His 6-foot-4 frame is going to garner attention, but he also has an impressive skill set. His arm talent is present, and he showcased that Saturday at the Edison Battle at the Beach.

Defensive Standouts
Bosco’s undefeated run to the championship at the Battle at the Beach featured a balanced effort from both the offense and defense. Looking across the defense Saturday, and it was clear the Braves have a bright future for the years to come on that side of the ball. A big part of the Trinity League powerhouse’s success is its ability to develop talent.
Head coach Jason Negro and his staff have a number of key players on that side of the ball going into the 2026 season.
CB Kiingbaraka Kizzee (Mission Viejo)
One of the most intriguing players overall Saturday was new Mission Viejo cornerback Kiingbaraka Kizzee. K2, as he’s known, recently made the move over from Orange Lutheran. He will form an impressive tandem with Jordan Hicks at the cornerback spot for the Diablos. Kizzee is a different type of player than Hicks, however. He checks in at around 6-foot-3, and that allows him to play the position with a different type of physicality. We liked the confidence Kizzee displayed Saturday for Mission Viejo, and he will be someone to watch develop in the coming years. UCLA already locked up his commitment recently.

Trio Of Bosco DBs Shine At The Edison Battle At The Beach
The Bosco secondary features plenty of talent, and each of those players had a number of bright moments on the way to the championship.
DB Darnell Lacy (Bosco)
The big defensive back plays with a ton of confidence, and he is already developing into a leader for the Braves. As you would expect for a tall defensive back, Darnell Lacy has impressive range and also plays with plenty of physicality. The 6-foot-2 sophomore has already added a number of impressive Power Four offers, and he will be a priority target for those programs in the coming years.
DB Prentice Jones (Bosco)
Prentice Jones looks like a future star both in high school and the next level. He has the size of an older player already, and his game is going to make him a problem for opposing offenses this year. Jones’ frame — he’s around 6-foot-1 — gives him the ability to play a physical style. We also love his demeanor. It never changes, and that will be key as he continues his development.

DB Kingston Fatu (Bosco)
The St. John Bosco coaches were making it a priority to build up and encourage Fatu during Saturday’s action. We have liked what we have seen from the rising sophomore defensive back so far this offseason, and he made several impressive plays at the Edison Battle at the Beach. His ability to close on the ball carrier stood out during the event. He also has a knack for making high IQ plays, and that was on display Saturday.
