Yorba Linda came into Friday night looking to make a statement, and the Mustangs did just that. The Yorba Linda Mustangs took down Long Beach Poly 30-13 in a non-league matchup, improving to 2-0 on the season. Offensively, Isaiah Trujillo found the end zone twice, while Aiden Gutierrez added a touchdown as the Mustangs controlled the ground game. But the story of the night was Yorba Linda’s defense.
The Mustangs were flying around the field, piling up tackles for losses and consistently disrupting Long Beach Poly’s offense. The defensive front made it difficult for the Jackrabbits to find any rhythm, holding them to minimal yardage throughout the game.
Now 2-0, Yorba Linda turns its attention to El Dorado, while Long Beach Poly looks to bounce back against Tustin.
