NFC East Win Total Projections: Is The Division Up For Grabs?

The NFC East is shaping up to be one of the most competitive divisions in the NFL this season with no clear-cut frontrunner. TeamFB7 projects the overs and unders for the win totals across the division.

The NFC East enters 2026 with familiar star power but considerably more uncertainty than its reputation suggests.

Philadelphia became the division’s first repeat champion since the Eagles did it in 2003 and 2004, but the gap between the four teams may be narrower than last season’s standings indicate. Every club changed at least one coordinator, three installed new offensive play-callers and the New York Giants launched an entirely new coaching era.

Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith preserve Philadelphia’s offensive foundation, while the organization’s ability to draft and develop talent remains a competitive advantage. Still, coordinator changes, personnel losses and the cumulative strain of deep postseason runs introduce regression risk.

Dallas remains the division’s most volatile team. The Cowboys finished 7-9-1 despite fielding one of the NFL’s most productive offenses because a defense allowing a league-worst 30.1 points per game repeatedly erased that production. Dak Prescott can still drive a high-scoring attack, but Dallas must demonstrate that its rebuilt defense can convert close losses into victories.

Washington may possess the widest range of outcomes. The Commanders collapsed to 5-12 one year after reaching the NFC Championship game, as injuries disrupted Jayden Daniels’ second season and exposed weaknesses around him. Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo and Rachaad White add offensive versatility, but eight potential new defensive starters illustrate the magnitude of the reconstruction.

New York is finished selling patience. John Harbaugh inherits a roster built around second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart, explosive receiver Malik Nabers and a talented defensive front. Isaiah Likely and Patrick Ricard reinforce Harbaugh’s physical identity, while upgrades to the secondary and offensive line should improve a team that consistently squandered manageable games.

Projecting the NFC East Win Totals in 2026

The division presents four defining questions: Can Philadelphia sustain its dominance? Can Dallas field an adequate defense? Can Washington protect Daniels? And can Harbaugh accelerate New York’s rebuild?

Here is how the NFC East win totals stack up, with win totals provided by DraftKings:

Dallas Cowboys Under 9.5 Wins

Dallas owns enough offensive firepower to contend for 10 victories, but this number requires a seven-win team to improve by nearly three full games. That is an aggressive expectation for a club that surrendered an NFL-worst 30.1 points per game.

Prescott gives the Cowboys a high offensive floor, while new defensive coordinator Christian Parker receives meaningful additions. Rashan Gary upgrades the pass rush, and Caleb Downs could provide an immediate playmaking presence in the secondary.

Defensive Improvement Must Be Immediate

The analytical concern is how much defensive improvement Dallas needs. Even climbing from last in scoring defense to league average would represent a dramatic one-year correction —and average may not be sufficient to reach double-digit wins. New personnel must learn Parker’s system while facing a division featuring three quarterbacks with substantial mobility.

Dallas should remain dangerous offensively, but its likely dependence on high-scoring, one-possession games creates excessive variance. A 9-8 finish represents meaningful progress while still cashing the Under.

New York Giants Over 7.5 Wins

This is my favorite NFC East Over. New York does not need to become a championship contender; it needs to turn four victories into eight.

Harbaugh immediately raises the Giants’ floor through preparation, physicality and situational discipline. Even modest improvement in third-down execution, red-zone efficiency and late-game decision-making could flip several competitive losses. The schedule also softens from the NFL’s most difficult slate in 2025 to a more manageable draw that includes additional games against New Orleans, Cleveland and Detroit.

Dart’s Development Raises the Ceiling

Dart’s second-year development remains the swing factor. He will operate with Nabers, Cam Skattebo and Likely, while Ricard and Daniel Faalele support the power-based approach Harbaugh prefers.

The Giants still lack proven depth, and doubling a win total is never automatic. However, improved coaching, a friendlier schedule and natural quarterback growth make 8-9 a realistic projection — and enough to cash Over 7.5.

Philadelphia Eagles Over 10.5 Wins

Philadelphia remains the NFC East’s most complete team despite trading A.J. Brown and changing offensive coordinators.

Hurts, Barkley and Smith give offensive coordinator Sean Mannion an established core, while the offensive line should keep the rushing attack among the league’s most efficient. That combination provides a dependable weekly floor: Philadelphia can control possession, create favorable down-and-distance situations and win without requiring Hurts to carry the offense through the air.

Organizational Stability Creates the Edge

The Eagles’ greater advantage is organizational sustainability. Their investment in the trenches allows them to absorb departures more effectively than most contenders. An expected schedule ranked among the NFL’s eight easiest also strengthens the case for another 11-win season.

Brown’s departure reduces the passing game’s explosiveness and leaves less margin for error if Smith misses time. Early inconsistency under Mannion is also possible. Nevertheless, elite line play, an established rushing identity and superior defensive depth make 11-6 the most probable outcome. At plus money, Over 10.5 offers value.

Washington Commanders Under 7.5 Wins

Daniels gives Washington upset potential, but its offensive line makes eight victories difficult to project.

The loss of Pro Bowl left tackle Laremy Tunsil creates a serious protection problem, while uncertainty along the interior magnifies the physical risk for a mobile quarterback. Daniels can extend plays and punish defenses outside structure, but Washington cannot rely upon him absorbing repeated contact to compensate for breakdowns up front.

Protection Problems Threaten the Rebound

Diggs, Okonkwo and White improve the supporting cast, but their value declines if protection prevents longer routes from developing. Defensively, eight potential new starters may eventually raise the unit’s ceiling, yet such extensive turnover usually produces early communication and assignment issues. Installing new systems on both sides further increases Washington’s variance.

The Commanders fell seven victories from one season to the next, demonstrating how fragile their previous success was. Daniels can elevate the roster when healthy, but protection concerns and defensive discontinuity create substantially more downside than upside. I project 6-11, making Under 7.5 the strongest wager in the division.
