Twenty of the nation’s top quarterbacks competed at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles in June. Eleven of them were invited to compete at The Opening Finals. TeamFB7 checks in on how those quarterbacks are doing this fall.
The season is already halfway over for most high school football teams, and quarterbacks are putting up big numbers across the country.
The Elite 11 finalists were outstanding when the pads were off in a camp setting over the summer, but how are they doing in real games this fall? Let’s take a look at the latest from each QB.
How The Elite 11 Quarterbacks Are Performing Midway Through The HS Season
Israel Abrams, Montini Catholic (Lombard, Illinois)
Miami commit Israel Abrams recently had a career-game in Montini Catholic’s win over Nazareth Academy two weeks ago. He completed 25 of 35 passes for 411 yards with 4 passing touchdowns and 3 rushing touchdowns.
Abrams has led Montini Catholic to a 4-1 record heading into the start of league play against St. Rita on Friday.
Peter Bourque, Tabor Academy (Marion, Massachusetts)
Tabor Academy has only played one game thus far and Peter Bourque struggled in a loss. The Virginia Tech commit threw a touchdown pass but also had an interception in a 23-14 defeat to Williston Northampton.
Kavian Bryant, Westwood (Palestine, Texas)
Kavian Bryant is coming off his best game of the season in Westwood’s 70-35 win over Timpson. The Texas Tech commit completed 14 of 18 passes for 358 yards with 5 touchdowns and ran for 110 yards with 2 TDs.
Brady Edmunds, Huntington Beach (California)
Brady Edmunds has completed 71 percent of his passes for 1,137 yards with 13 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions for Huntington Beach. The Ohio State commit has also ran for a touchdown while leading his team to its first 5-0 start since 1998.
Elijah Haven, Dunham (St. George, Louisiana)
Elijah Haven has played two games for Dunham this season and was dominant in one and struggled in another.
The Alabama commit threw for 165 yards with 3 touchdowns and ran for 197 yards with 3 touchdowns in Dunham’s 56-16 win over Parkway in the season-opener.
Peyton Houston, Evangel Christian (Shreveport, Louisiana)
Peyton Houston is showing off his dual-threat abilities for Evangel Christian despite turning the ball over a bit too much.
The LSU commit has passed for 843 yards, 8 TDs and 5 INTs in three games with a team-high 400 rushing yards and 5 TDs. Evangel Christian is 1-2.
Kharim Hughley, Gainesville (Georgia)
Kharim Hughley threw for multiple touchdowns in Gainesville’s loss to East St. Louis a couple of weeks ago. The Clemson commit led the team with 116 rushing yards and a touchdown in a win over McEachern last week.
Jake Nawrot, Hersey (Arlington Heights, Illinois)
Jake Nawrot has completed 68.5% of his passes for 1,321 yards, 17 TDs and 0 INTs through five games.
The Kentucky commit has led Hersey to a 5-0 record heading into its bye week.
Ryan Rakowski, Palos Verdes (California)
Ryan Rakowski was the breakout star of the Elite 11 Finals in June and has kept that momentum going when the pads came on this fall.
The Nevada commit has completed 73.2% of his passes for 1,052 yards with 10 TDs and just 1 INT with 3 rushing TDs, leading Palos Verdes to a 5-0 record.
Trae Taylor III, Millard South (Omaha, Nebraska)
Trae Taylor III was the MVP of Elite 11 and has had a nice start to the season for Millard South.
The Nebraska commit has thrown for 1,176 yards, 14 TDs and just 2 INTs in four games and has also rushed for 340 yards and 5 TDs.
Braylen Warren, Westside (Omaha, Nebraska)
Braylen Warren has completed 61.6% of his passes for 878 yards, 9 TDs and 2 INTs for Westside this season through four games. The Missouri commit has also rushed for 274 yards with 4 TDs.
