De La Salle wasted no time making a statement against St. Mary, turning this one into a blowout almost immediately. The Spartans jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter, highlighted by Duece Jones-Drew taking the very first play from scrimmage 60 yards to the house. From there, De La Salle’s defense completely took over. The Spartans’ defensive backs were locked in all night, shutting down St. Mary’s receivers and forcing quarterback Ronan Carr to hold onto the football as the pressure continued to mount. With the offense clicking and the defense playing lights out, De La Salle controlled the game from start to finish.
