Game Of The Year? Crean Lutheran Overcomes 21 Point First Half Deficit vs Huntington Beach

 

October 24, 2025 – This is the game we had been waiting for all season as two high powered offenses collided. Huntington Beach, led by junior Brady Edmunds, jumped out to a 21-0 lead into the 2nd quarter. The first touchdown was a deep pass from Edmunds to Troy Foster.

Things changed when HB got a little to pumped up and drew a personal foul call waking up Crean in the second quarter.

Caden Jones & Running Back Caleb Bay put the offense on their back and drove down the field to score with just over 8 minutes left on the clock.

Crean pressured Edmunds forcing HB to turn the ball over on downs leading to two more Crean touchdowns. The third touchdown coming with under a minute on the clock.

A couple of plays that could have changed the trajectory of this game. One was a dropped interception by Maxson Borgquist with the game tied at 21 in the third quarter on the HB 21 yard line. This led to a Crean FG which put them up 24-21. Another was when Senior Steel Kurtz had his man beat and just couldn’t bring the ball down on a touchdown pass from Edmunds with the score tied at 21 in the third quarter.

Caden Jones finished the game completing 25 of 31 passes for 174 yards.

Caleb Bay finished with 158 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bay led the smashmouth type football that not only kept drives alive but also ran time off the clock.

Ohio State bound Edmunds finished with 283 yards through the air with 3 touchdowns. He also surpassed 8,000 career passing yards in this game. Troy Foster finished 7 catches for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns.
