The NFL Pro Bowl has gone through plenty of changes over the years. This fall, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the all-star event would be moving to the week of the Super Bowl. It will also take place in the same city as the game’s biggest event.
Since 2023, the Pro Bowl moved to a skills-based event and 7-on-7 flag football game. It has allowed players to avoid injury at the end of what is now a 17-game regular season.
It was announced by the league last week that Pro Football Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Steve Young will serve as coaches for the Pro Bowl Games. Rice is going to lead the NFC team while Young will coach the AFC players on Feb. 3.
The event is slated to take place at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. Super Bowl LX will be played at Levi’s Stadium in nearby Santa Clara on Feb. 8. The Pro Bowl had recently been held in Orlando and traditionally did not take place the same week as the Super Bowl.
Tuesday, the rosters for both teams were revealed as 19 first-time selections were voted to participate. The rosters are generated by a combination of fan, player and coaching voting. Each group counts as one third of the total vote.
It was revealed Monday that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was the leading fan vote getter for the second consecutive year. The 11-time Pro Bowler beat out Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen by 157,256 votes to top the fan list.
